Why my sent messages are received broken, incomplete or corrupt ?
One drawback of the SMS technology is that one SMS message can only carry a very limited amount of data. To overcome this drawback, an extension called concatenated SMS (also known as long SMS) was developed. A concatenated SMS text message can contain more than 160 English characters.
Long SMS works like this: The sender's mobile phone breaks
down a long message into smaller parts and sends each of them as a single SMS
message. When these SMS messages reach the destination, the recipient mobile
phone will combine them back to one long message.
The long SMS messages take more time to dispatch from our SMS Center (almost
double), and on receiver's mobile phone it takes more time to get downloaded.
Few mobile phones (specially old models, or basic mobile models) take much more
time than newer or advanced models, and few mobile phones receive the first SMS
and starts ringing, in the mean time the second part downloads. If the receiver
opens the SMS right away than he/she might see incomplete SMS, however if they
open the same SMS again after 10-15 seconds they might see the complete SMS.
During busy seasons, or receiver's network issues the SMS may not be combined properly.
Unfortunately this is all dependent on receiver's mobile phone and/or receiver's network, we have no control over it. And there is no solution as well. If the receiver complains than please do not send them long SMS messages, or tell them to change their handsets to a latest mobile phone which supports longer SMS technology.
